National Day of Prayer

written by Kenneth Wegorowski and published on May 1, 2019

The United States Congress officially declared this national day recognized as the National Day of Prayer for all religions that believe in a diety, God, or supreme being in 1952. It was then signed into law by then president Harry S. Truman.

The first Thursday in May every year is considered the National Day of Prayer.

Each president of the United States routinely signs a proclamation which brings emphasis to this day.

Although no one is by law required to pray it is simply a statement that honors the religions of the world and humanities quest for connection to their deity of choice and their concern for their fellow man.
